TeenMag: Why do you think Twilight is the perfect target
for a spoof?
Jenn Proske: Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I think that vampires are sexy. The idea of them being untouchable has been really exciting for people. And I love how smart [the producers] are with using pop culture references. They just know everything. I've said to them before, "You must just watch TV and read every magazine!" They know all the little details of what's going on!

TM: So then, even though you're making fun of it, are you really a Twi-Hard deep down?
JP: I'm a huge fan of all of the books and films! When I was working on Vampires Suck, I must have watched Twilight and New Moon literally almost every day. I have seen them over a hundred times. I wanted to approach the character as if I were actually Bella in Twilight, as if I had just received the role.

TM: What was the hardest part of imitating Bella?
JP: I actually have to lower my voice for the part. I also smile a lot and Kristen Stewart doesn't. The director was always reminding me, "Don't smile! Don't smile!"

TM: Was there one scene that you were most excited to make fun of? Maybe something that seemed just so over-the-top ridiculous in the original film(s)?
JP: The break-up scene when she's walking through the woods and collapses. We were out in the woods shooting it for about a week. I also had a scene where I Jell-o wrestled some girls in the fountain [in Italy.] That was pretty fun, too!

TM: So since you guys are making fun of this huge phenomenon, how do you think the die-hard Twilight fans will react?
JP: I feel like the lovers and the haters are both going to really enjoy it. I actually think the Twilight lovers are the ones who are going to enjoy it the most because there are so many specific little references. I think they are going to appreciate those. And the haters are going to love seeing us make fun of the entire vampire pop-culture phenomenon.

TM: In your perfect world, would Bella end up with the vampire or the werewolf?
JP: I think I'm a little more Team Edward. Just from playing Bella, I feel that way. I just think that they fit better. My personal opinion is that Jacob tries too hard, but that's just from me being a fan. You'll have to tell Chris Riggi [he plays Jacob] that I'm sorry! [Laughs]

TM: It helps that you are playing opposite a smoking hot Edward! [90210 star Matt Lanter.]
JP: I was actually nervous that Matt would be judging me because I've never been on camera before. I was afraid that he wouldn't want to work with me. But he was so supportive!

TM: Did any romance spark on-set? Do we have the next Robsten on our hands?
JP: We did have a kissing scene. I was really nervous because it was my first on-screen kiss! Thankfully, it was one of our last scenes to shoot so by that time Matt and I were close friends. But I've actually thought about whether or not people will say [that we are dating] just because - but no, we aren't.

TM: We know it's almost impossible to choose but who is a hotter Edward: Matt Lanter or Robert Pattinson?
JP: That's an easy one for me - Matt! I'm biased, though.

It often takes aspiring actors years before they get a starring role in a movie after making the big move to Los Angeles. But Jenn Proske, who graduated from Boston University last year, moved to Hollywood and found her dream role in no time. She says landing the lead as Becca Crane in “Vampires Suck” is like “winning the lottery as an actor.”

“Vampires Suck” is a spoof on the ridiculously popular “Twilight” saga written by Stephanie Meyer. But Jenn, who was a fan of the books and the movies before being cast, isn’t trying to make enemies in Hollywood by making fun of the pop culture phenomenon that is vampires – she thinks it’s a form of flattery.

Here’s what the young actress has to say about her film that hits theaters on August 18:

How did you prepare for the role?

I had to watch the original “Twilight” just to get the overall story and to understand everyone and all the characters so I’ve watched “Twilight” and “New Moon” hundreds of times. I’m a huge fan of the movies so I had a great time watching them over and over again.

Were you a Twihard before being cast?

I had seen both the movies before I got cast. I was a fan of the books and the movies. I think “Twilight” is great. It’s such an amazing thing that everyone has created. Vampires are something exciting and sexy and fun to a lot of people, [including me.]

Your character, Becca Crane, is eerily similar to Kristen Stewart’s, Bella Swan. Did you intend to do that?

I didn’t want it to be an imitation of Kristen [Stewart]. I worked with the directors to find a balance [between] my own self as an actor and Kristen’s mannerisms and vocal patterns so that it was recognizable.

“It was amazing,” Hampton graduate Chelsea Waldschmidt told See and Be Seen. “I actually got so close to him I touched him.”

Waldschmidt said she and about 100 other girls were watching Lautner film a scene outside the school, which included him riding a motorcycle and driving in an SUV. “All of a sudden the SUV came over to where the crowd was standing and he [Lautner] got out and said, ‘Hey, what’s up guys?’ Everyone started going crazy,” Waldschmidt said. Despite all of the excitement, which included paparazzi from national media outlets, Waldschmidt said Lautner remained calm and wasn’t in any hurry to leave. “I’ve never met a celebrity, so it was really cool. I didn’t expect him to be so nice. He didn’t even have any security with him,” Waldschmidt said.

I went to the 100 Monkeys concert in Reno on Tuesday. The band was amazing! Afterwards, the whole band signed autographs. Jackson flashed that million dollar smile at me and said ” Hi darling, did you like the show?” I could barely get out a yes, cause that smile kills me! Then he said “I’m glad you had a good time darling” in that Texas drawl and smiled again! I nearly had to be picked up off the floor! Then everyone went outside and starting waiting to get a picture. A little after 1am, and with only me and 2 other girls outside, they came out. I asked Jackson if I could get a quick picture and he of course said yes! It was obviously a great night!

Peter Facinelli aka Carlisle Cullen of The Twilight Saga, has done so many different things with his celebrity from pleasing thousands of screaming fans at autograph signings, to helping out various charity organizations. In this interview with PFach, he talks about his home-life, charities and when Twilight had just begun.

Peter Facinelli had never heard of the “Twilight” books when his agent asked him to audition for a vampire movie.

“I said no. I was thinking it was some B or C slasher, horror kind of picture,” said Facinelli, whose agent quickly sent him a copy of Stephenie Meyer’s popular first novel.

“I couldn’t put it down,” said Facinelli, who read it in one night. “It was kind of a throwback to the origins of what vampire folklore was, the sensuousness and the love story that it used to be.

And Facinelli has been along for the ride as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, the kindly head of a family of “vegetarian” vampires–they feed only on animals, not humans–and the adoptive father of Edward, played by mega-star Rob Pattinson. [click to continue…]

Now, Summit has officially announced that ”Breaking Dawn, Part 2″ will open November 2012, and with that, another assumption seems to be taking hold among fans and on the Web: After ”Eclipse” failed to wildly out-gross ”New Moon” at the box office, Summit got spooked about a summer release date and fled to more familiar autumn territory. But based on our conversations with Summit and box-office analysts, that’s simply not the case.

First off, it’s important to note that despite all this talk about a weaker-than-expected performance for ”Eclipse,” its $289 million haul will eventually surpass the $297 million that ”New Moon” pulled in last fall, according to Box Office Mojo.

When you consider that sequels like ”Shrek Forever After” and ”Sex and the City 2″ underperformed in the crowded summer movie season, Summit has got to be extremely pleased with the box-office business of ”Eclipse.” So if it’s not a fear of summer that persuaded Summit to deliver both ”Breaking Dawn” films in the fall, then what was it? A careful examination of the 2012 summer calendar.

”The lesson is that it’s all about positioning a film at a time when it will face as little direct competition as possible,” explained Phil Contrino, editor of BoxOffice.com. ”Summit was wise to stay away from Summer 2012, because it’s shaping up to be a record-breaking season.”

”The Avengers,” ”Madagascar 3″ and ”Men in Black 3″ are all set to drop that May, followed by ”Star Trek 2″ in June, and then new installments of ”Spider-Man” (which already occupies the Fourth of July slot held this year by ”Eclipse”), ”Ice Age” and ”Batman.”

”Why compete with an amazing slate like that if you don’t have to?” Contrino added. ”I’m sure ”Breaking Dawn, Part 2″ would still open very well during a summer that crowded, but its audience would be devoured very quickly.”

The point, then, is not that summer is a poor time in which to release a ”Twilight” film but that fall simply presents less competition, which is not to say that there will be no box-office battle in autumn. ”Breaking Dawn, Part I” is set to open against ”Happy Feet 2″ on November 18, 2011, while the second in the two-part finale will compete with ”Monsters Inc. 2″ on November 16, 2012. But when you consider the more jam-packed summer season and the fact that an entire year will have passed between ”Twilight” flicks — as opposed to the eight months between ”New Moon” and ”Eclipse” — the fall 2012 release date makes perfect sense.

”There’s a mood and spirit to these movies that make them play really well in the fall. They’re darker, they’re more emotional than standard summer fare, and thematically, fall is a great fit,” said John Singh, a box-office analyst for Flixster. ”It also allows the audience to build even greater anticipation — rather than seeing the follow-up just a few months later. This gives them a full year to anticipate the final film in a series that has generated hugely positive response from its fanbase.”

Matt Lanter has a big couple of months ahead of him. Not only is he gearing up for the return of 90210, but in two weeks we'll see him do his best Edward Cullen in the Twilight spoof, Vampires Suck. At the Summer TCA, I stole Lanter away for a few minutes, where he talked about his respect for Robert Pattinson and his fears of Twi-hard backlash. He also revealed what will happen with Annie and Liam on 90210 and gave us his take on which character will come out of the closet.

BuzzSugar: How much fun was it to spoof Twilight in Vampires Suck?
Matt Lanter: I had a blast doing it. I've worked with those guys before on Disaster Movie, so I knew I was going to have a good time. And to be able to do a Twilight spoof — let's be honest, they had it coming, right?

Buzz: Do you worry about fan backlash?
ML: Like a bunch of teen girls showing up at my house? A little bit, a little bit. So please don't hurt me.

Buzz: Have you met Rob [Pattinson]?
ML: I have not! He seems like a great guy, though. He really does. Honestly, I'm a fan. He does a great job in the Twilight series.

Buzz: So you've seen the Twilight movies?
ML: Yeah, I've seen them. I actually read the first book. I did my character research!

Buzz: Can you do an Edward Cullen impersonation for us?
ML: I'm not going do a re-enactment for you! But I had the eyes and I had the hair. My hair was longer too, I had a very good, disheveled Rob Pattinson look going on. It was great, we pretty much closely follow the Twilight film. So a lot of the scenes in Twilight we're actually doing. What's also kind of cool is that we also follow our own storyline. It was fun.

Buzz: Did you get to do the sparkling like diamonds scene?
ML: I did, I did do the diamond scene. And I was naked in front of — well, not completely. I had a little loin cloth on in front of like 300 extras. You know you have that nightmare where you get up in front of everyone, and you're talking, and all of a sudden you're naked? That actually happened.

In the fourth and final film adaptation of the vampire saga, the pair share heated sex scenes and Pattinson, 24, revealed his excitement about the intimate scenes.

Pattinson, dubbed R-Pattz by fans, told Access Hollywood: ‘I’m looking forward to the pillow-biting scene.

‘I thought that was so funny, of all the random things too do, really? He bites the pillow.’

Stewart, whose character Bella Swan has a baby in the new movie, added: ‘It does actually literally get more physical [in Breaking Dawn].

‘It doesn’t get more action-packed… [But] they definitely get more physical – well, they get married…

‘We totally have sex – finally!’

Jackson Rathbone: Things are finally going a good way for me. It was time!

Aside from the character he plays in The Twilight saga, Jasper Hale, Jackson Rathbone is currently on the poster of The Last Airbender from M. Night Shyamalan. A role that allows him to show the whole extent of his talent in the field of martial arts.

One magazine: In the United States Eclipse and The Last Airbender are out at the same time. What movie do you want to see at the number one spot in the box office?

JR: To be honest, I consider myself lucky just to be in two movies at the same time! Before that, I enjoyed a quantity of projects that nobody went to see in theaters. Things are finally going a good way for me. It was time!

ON: How did you land the role of Sokka?

JR: When I met M. Night Shyamalan, the film director, three years ago, we immediately got on. Initially, I auditioned for the role of Prince Zuko and he told me he was thinking of another role for me. Then I never heard of the film for a year. Then he got back to me and asked me to play Sokka and I was hired. I’m a fan of the animated series, I’ve always loved fantasy stories with such rich mythology. And with this role, I finally have a chance to show that I can do more than just to play a vampire. It also gives me the opportunity to be much less serious than Jasper, as Sokka has many comic scenes.

ON: Are you tired of the role of Jasper?

JR: No, but I try to play very different characters from film to film. I don’t do the same thing twice. I gravitate naturally towads to projects in which the public don’t expect to see me.

ON: What kind of training have you followed for this movie?

JR: I studied a form of kung fu called Gong Li Quan based on the teachings of Shaolin monks. The movements of the fists are extremely rapid and aggressive. I also learned to fight with stick and even a boomerang. Then we had to make me look less experienced to look like the real Sokka, a rebel who engages in battle with everything he has and no special technique. I loved my training for the role several months in advance before the filming. It was a fascinating experience.

ON: What is your favorite memory of filming?

JR: All the scenes we filmed in Greenland. I had never been there and it is a truly magical place. It was very physical, since climatic conditions are extreme, but the nature is wonderful. This isn’t the kind of place where you can go on vacation in general and I think I’d never go there without the film. So it is an experience in itself which I will remember until the end of my days. It’s precisely to live this kind of thing that I’ve become an actor. We started every morning landing on the top of an iceberg by helicopter. We can’t imagine a more exotic destination than that.

ON: You have not suffered too much from the cold, right?

JR: I had to wear seven layers of long leggings under my clothes not to freeze and I had gloves made of neoprene to avoid frostbite. One can easily lose a finger or two without realizing it in such a climate. (Laughs)

ON: In your opinion, are there any similarities between Twilight and The Last Airbender?

JR: Yes, because both films are about family and, more specifically, stepfamilies. In both cases, the characters are from very united clans that go beyond beyond blood ties. And then, as it should and Twilight normally see several suits at The Last Airbender. I, in both cases, signed for trilogies and I hope that day will come.

ON: What are your new projects?

JR: Soon I intend to return to the studio and to the concert halls with my band 100 Monkeys. We released a new single called Future Radio and we will continue touring in the United States. Then, I intend to make further appearances on the TV screen in several shows. I loved playing a role in an episode of Criminal Minds and I’ll repeat this experience. The television offers fascinating perspectives for an actor like myself who likes to vary in his roles. I dream of playing in such a comedy like the sitcom Philadelphia.

ON: Was it strange for you to act with actors you didn’t know after Twilight, in which you’re

friends with everybody?

JR: Yes, it was a bit strange to arrive on a set and to see that there were unfamiliar faces. But it’s more in line with the reality of an actor than the reverse. In Twilight, we are a great group of friends with the actors and crew. We meet together periodically and to returm is like returning to a summer camp. But in The Last Airbender, I also made friends and was very emotional to say goodbye to everyone at the end of the shooting.

You’ve said you thought this current film, Eclipse, would be easy at first. Was that partially because you knew Breaking Dawn, your two-part adaptation of the final films of the Twilight series, was coming?

That was actually from the outset, separate from Breaking Dawn. Looking at the first three books, it seemed like it would be easier just because it had all this action. Of course, that was wrong. Thinking anything in writing is going to be easy is always…

A mistake?

Always a mistake. It is never easy. Writing is hard. If it wasn’t, everyone would do it, right?

True. So Eclipse has a lot of action, but it’s mainly in the third act.

Exactly.

Tell me what you had to do with those first two acts to lead up to that big conflict.

It was about taking that threat and building on it to the third act conflict. The entire book is from Bella’s point of view, so anything that happens in the book, she hears about after the fact, [when] she’s not actually present. With the script, I don’t have that restriction. I could actually go away from her point of view occasionally, so I was able to build a few of those scenes that she hears about after the fact and invent a few to help build to this conflict, which, hopefully, helps to keep that sense of threat impending and growing throughout [the first two acts].

This Twilight phenomenon has happened really fast, but it’s also been, what, three and half years now that you’ve been ensconced in this?

Yeah. It was about two months before the strike.

In all that time, has your process for breaking down these books remained the same?

I’ve used the same system that I’ve had from the beginning. The only thing that’s changed a little is that I’ve involved Stephenie Meyer a little more in my process. I’ve used her as a resource more and more as I’ve gone along… and our relationship has developed over that time.

You must start to feel some sense of ownership as an author, too…

I’ve certainly become very invested, but I give all props to Stephenie. I would not have the career I now have without her, so I take nothing from that, certainly.

Of course. And going back for a minute, can you encapsulate what your process has been for these breaking these books?

The first thing I do is read the book and sit back and let what comes to mind pop. What I’m looking for there is structure; what emerges as the mid-point, what the arcs of the characters are and how best to structure them. I let the scenes wash over me to decide what the big moments are.

Then I start building from there. The way I do that is to put into a very abbreviated few pages what the key scenes in the book are, chapter by chapter. Once I have my structure of what the basic acts are, I start filling in the muscle and sinew.

Did Eclipse take comparatively less or more time than the others?

Well, to some extent, it’s [been a matter of] how much time I have. I did have a little bit more time with Eclipse. With Twilight, we were fighting the strike deadline, so I slammed that one out. With New Moon I had more time, but I was juggling Dexter at the same time.

How fast did you do Twilight?

I think I outlined for about a month, while simultaneously working on Dexter, and then it was five weeks to write the script.
